A young management trainee from a global
bank recently remarked: “At school, I thought working in a bank
meant working at the local branch on the high street. Now I’m
working for an international organisation with customers and
partners all over the world. If only I’d realised back then how far
languages could take me.”
This is a regret that too many people have
in the UK. The truth is, language skills are crucial in any global
financial organisation - in particular in light of globalisation,
the recent financial crisis and the changing socio-economic map.
There is a huge competitive advantage in being able to communicate
with customers, suppliers or partners in their own language, so if
you want to go into the world of finance, languages will be a
highly valued addition to your CV.
