The ease of modern travel means that there
is more contact than ever with tourists coming to this country, and
for those in the industry more contact with customers and suppliers
abroad. Being able to welcome people in their own language –
whether that be through road signs, printed material or giving
advice – makes a crucial difference to how we are perceived as a
nation. And with one of the world’s biggest sporting events on the
horizon – the Olympic Games – the need to improve and employ our
language skills has never been greater.
