Careers services
Information, advice and guidance is available for all sectors of education.
Schools
At this age, there is a focus on wider issues such as personal, social and health education as well as careers education for employment. Information and support from guidance teachers in schools can be found through the main service provider, Connexions.
Colleges
FE and sixth form colleges will usually have a dedicated careers coordinator, and a careers library for students to access information. The Connexions service also extends its involvement up to the age of 19.
Higher education
Every university has a careers advisory service. The key membership organisation serving their interests, and supporting careers guidance for this sector is the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.
Adult education
Adult education centres provide advice for adult learners locally. Comprehensive careers support can also be found on the Learndirect website.
For older students and adults, key messages on languages and careers, and signposts to careers organisations can be found on our Work talk factsheet.
