Language training

Language training

Language training to businesses is an alternative to teaching in schools or colleges. Although experience and training as a language teacher is ideal preparation, every business is looking to use languages in a different way, and working schedules mean that flexibility in delivery is important. The best trainers have an understanding of the industry as well as the language they are working with, ideally through personal experience.

Debate continues as to the need for a specialist qualification in this field. A number of providers have developed models and some are in discussion about taking the developments further with the Lifelong Learning Sector Skills Council. CILT supports the exploration of a specialist qualification catering for the language trainer working in Adult Education, FE, HE (eg as a trainer at a Language Centre) and commercial language training.
