Learning in the family

Learning in the family

The influence of the family is really important when it comes to learning languages. First of all, parents should try to understand what it means for their children to study different languages, and get involved. They can use their own experiences in discussing this, whether from school or in adult learning.

Secondly, many families in the UK speak languages other than English at home. It can often be forgotten, but these community languages are highly valued by employers. Plus of course they represent a really important part of your cultural heritage.
