How do I find a job as a languages teacher?

Jobs for teachers and lecturers are advertised in the weekly Times Education Supplement (TES) and on the TES Jobs website. You can also look on the Guardian website (the education supplement is in Tuesday's print edition).

For teachers in independent schools there is also the Gabbitas website.

Other job websites exist for teachers, including Eteach. See TeacherNet for a more comprehensive list.

Some websites focus on specific regions, e.g.:
Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire: Teaching Agency
Southwest England: Cover Supply Teachers
North of England: MFL Plus

Jobs for lecturers in higher education are advertised in the weekly Times Higher Education Supplement (THE). See also jobs.ac.uk.

There is no single place to seek jobs in adult and continuing education. See Types of language courses for adults for an idea of the sorts of institutions that teach languages at this level.

The British Council provides information on finding a job teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL).

Jobs for unqualified staff may be included on some on the websites listed above. You can also try looking on the websites of the local authorities. The Directgov site provides a listing of local authority websites and also a jobs and skills search facility.
