Guardian web chat – What can I do with a languages
degree?
Thursday 22 July, 1pm-4pm
On Thursday 22 July, Guardian Careers are hosting a live web
chat about what graduates can do with a languages degree.
The ability to speak a foreign language is
becoming an increasingly sought after skill by employers. According
to a new survey by the CBI, 71% of UK employers are dissatisfied
with foreign language skills in school and college leavers, and 55%
are unhappy about graduates’ language skills. The report, which
sets out what makes young people most employable, highlights the
importance of linguistic proficiency in another language and its
capacity to help build business relationships around the world.
Anne Marie Graham, Head of Skills, Business
and Adult Learning at CILT, the National Centre for
Languages, will be joining the panel of experts for the web chat
and will be answering all your questions. So, if you have a
languages degree, join the discussion to find out what
opportunities are open to you. Post
your comments and questions here.
