Are you looking for an activity to get students thinking about the point of learning a language?

Well, here it is! The LAFTAs competition involves creating a two-minute video clip that presents the most convincing case for being able to speak more than one language. It can be an interview, an animation, a sketch or even some sort of spoof - the funnier the better!  The competition is open to individuals and to groups of students aged 13-21.

How about using it as an extra-curricular project, or to help celebrate the European Day of Languages? Or make use of your foreign language assistant, beginner teacher or languages ambassador from HE and get them working on some ideas.

Winning clips will be screened in venues like the Institut Français, the Instituto Cervantes and the Goethe Institut, as well as becoming part of the Languages Work resources.

Look out for our celebrity endorsements and judging panel to be confirmed shortly!
