This project was set up by University College London (UCL) with support from the Nuffield Foundation and CfBT and further developed by UCL and SOAS. It includes a quiz and seven taster websites.

Black Country 14-19 Pathfinder project now Language Networks for Excellence

This EAL winning project put young people at the heart of the learning experience that places language learning within the context of real life, real work and real experience. Resources were developed for use in the curriculum.

 

English is not Enough

A video by Leeds Metropolitan University, which aims to highlight to school and college students the importance and value of having foreign language skills in our multicultural society and workplace.

Talking Business – language skills for business

This video created by the Black Country Pathfinder project, is aimed at year 9 students as they are deciding their Key Stage 4 options. We hear directly from business people representing typical SMEs from the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

 

What's the point?

What's the point? is a hard-hitting video by the Staffordshire Languages Group aimed at 14–16 year-olds encouraging them to continue their language studies. To order the DVD, contact Kevin Phillips at 01782 297560.

 

Which way now?

For students nearing the end of Key Stage 3, “Which Way Now” provides information for Year 9 pupils and their parents or carers on future pathways, and details where they can find further guidance, advice and support. The magazine can be downloaded or ordered from this website.
